SACRAMENTO ATTORNEY AND REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER "JIMMY" KOURETAS, PASSES AWAY AT AGE 69

KOURETAS, JAMES LOUIS, Jr. (Jimmy)
August 19, 1947 - November 24, 2016

Jimmy Kouretas, a Sacramento Attorney and Real Estate Developer was born in Sacramento, CA on August 19, 1947 and passed away peacefully on November 24, 2016 with his family at his side. He was 69 years old and only son of the late James Louis Kouretas, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Betty Lukenbill-Kouretas of Sacramento and wife, Rosemary Kouretas, her children, Curtis Williams and Christine Lewis, and their children and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Karen Kouretas-Hill (Bill) and Zoe "Joyce" Kouretas of Sacramento and one niece Kristina Kouretas-Hill of Los Angeles, and his pride and joy, dog, Roxie.
Jimmy was raised in East Sacramento and graduated from Sacramento High School, CSUS, and Lincoln Law School. He began his law practice in 1977 with his Godfather "Nouno" the late Thomas W. Loris, a renowned trial attorney in Sacramento. His sister, Joyce Kouretas joined him immediately and worked side by side with him for 40 years along with his mother Betty Lukenbill-Kouretas who managed the family business with him at Kouretas Properties & Development.
He was a very hard working, brilliant man who jammed a lot into 69 years. He loved golfing, (hosting the Kouretas-Bardis Golf Outing at Spanish Bay, Pebble Beach & Spyglass for several years with Christo Bardis), owning golf courses, breeding & racing his own horses, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. His mother, Betty, stated, "He lost his dad at a young age. He had a very strong work ethic. He had so much love in him. His family always came first". He was a very humble man who was extremely loving, kind and generous. He was a compassionate good hearted man; both interested and interesting. He was very philanthropic.
His executive assistant, Chrissy Vang stated, "there are no bad words to describe him. People still reach out for his help and support. He was always there to give a helping hand to anyone in need. I never saw him close a door on anyone. He inspired people with his loving and generous kind heart".
Jimmy was very spiritual with his Greek Orthodox faith since childhood. On November 24, 2016 he lost the battle for his physical body. Even though he lost the battle to cancer, we know that his spirit won the war and was transcended to heaven to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ.
He will be greatly missed and remembered as a man of conviction and with passion who was kind to all and generous beyond measure.
Trisigian will be held at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 600 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento on Thursday, December 8th at 6 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 9th at 11:30 a.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 600 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento, followed by interment at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
